Do You Struggle With Your Emotional Eating, or Chronic Yo-Yo Dieting?

"Connect to the Truth About How to Find Peace With Food, Your Body and Yourself"

With This 15-Week "Find Peace With Food" Group Program Starting January 16th, 2010

Date: December 3rd, 2009
From: Julia Di Nardo

This January, forget about setting the same old New Year's "Resolution" to lose those same extra pounds you did last year (and the year before that, and so on). To get different results, you have to try something different. This program might be just what you're looking for.

Why is losing weight so hard? Most diets focus on what you should eat, how much you should eat, and when you should eat it. What they don't focus on is why you're eating in the first place, and how to cope with the stress that life throws our way. And until you learn how to cope with that stress instead of eating, no amount discipline or self-control will prevent you from getting out of that self-defeating cycle.

Emotional eating, chronic dieting, yo-yo weight gain and loss, and the never-ending cycle of overeating, guilt and deprivation are a daily struggle for more of us than you can imagine. And it is this very fact that often gets ignored in most weight loss efforts. With this the help of this program, you'll learn how to break out of this depressing cycle and pave the way to a happier, healthier you.

Do you see yourself in any of these situations?

  • You think about food constantly. You're always planning your next treat, snack or meal, or dreaming about fulfilling your latest craving.
  • You have no control over your food intake. You find yourself eating in a frenzy, not stopping until the entire box, bag or dish has disappeared. How could you have let that happen?
  • You're always on one diet or another. You know about the latest diet craze before Oprah does, and when one fails, you've got at least a dozen others to choose from.
  • You can never stick to a diet or eventually gain all the weight back. Every time you go on a diet, you're "good" for a while, but then you give up and binge until you end up weighing more than you did before you started.
  • You're an emotional eater. Every time you get sad, mad, or glad, you run right for the kitchen. You know you're not hungry, but eating makes everything better.
  • You're a mindless eater. You eat on the run, never really tasting what you're eating or paying attention to how much you're eating. Or, you easily polish off a bag of chips while watching TV without really noticing how much you've eaten.
  • You're completely out of touch with your hunger signals. You can't remember the last time you went long enough without eating to let your stomach start to grumble. Or you don't stop eating until you feel sick, going way beyond normal "satisfaction."
  • You eat because you're unhappy, but you're unhappy because you eat. You overeat, and then feel guilty, which only makes you want to eat even more. Will this cycle ever end?
  • Your body and weight are source of constant frustration and unhappiness. You weigh yourself every day, look at yourself with disgust in the mirror, or you wear clothes that "hide" how fat you feel. Whatever happened to that body you had when you were 20?

Introducing the Brand-New "Find Peace With Food" Group Program!

Find Peace With Food, Overcome Emotional Eating, Break Out of the Diet Trap and Find Healthier Ways of Coping With Your Emotions

If you can relate to the scenarios listed above, then you could be a great candidate for this program.

This 15-week structured program is a complete package designed to help you overcome your struggle with food and weight. It offers a solution to the struggles I've touched on above, ultimately, giving you peace with food. That's why I've called this program "Find Peace With Food." Because once you do, you will finally be able to take charge of your life, your eating, your fitness, and your weight.

If you put the principles I will teach you into practice you will finally be able to lose weight. Maybe not a lot right away, but slowly and sustainably. You'll feel and look better than ever, both inside and out. So no more worrying about clothes that don't fit, excess weight making you feel tired, or health problems that are exacerbated by your eating habits. You'll be as happy and healthy as you can be!

I have specially designed this program to help solve the pain and struggle you experience with food. As a psychotherapist who works with people dealing with these issues, I have both professional and personal experience in learning how to achieve peace with food. Because eating habits are years in the making, they are not easy to change. But, with this help of a program like this, you can get started on your journey toward recovery.

This program is partly based on a research-supported cognitive-behavioural treatment developed by doctors and experts in binge eating (Mitchell, Devlin, de Zwaan, Crow, & Peterson, 2008). Their program has been shown to reduce or eliminate compulsive binge eating behaviour in 50 - 90% of treatment participants. While individual results will vary, I've tweaked their standard package and thrown in some additional components that I believe are essential in learning how to find peace with food, with yourself and with your life. It can be done: I've done it myself, and I've helped other people do the same.

Here's what you can expect to get out of attending this program:

  • Understand what emotional eating is - from a psychological, social and physiological point of view.
  • Learn how to break the chain - between emotion and behaviour that lead to compulsive and emotional eating.
  • Figure out what your triggers are - and how to cope with them.
  • Find ways of dealing with your emotions - that don't involve food.
  • Get out of the diet trap - by learning how to think differently about eating.
  • Learn to accept yourself as you are - and break through your negative body image.
  • Get back in touch with your body's wisdom - by learning the principles of intuitive eating.
  • Learn ways of coping with your daily stresses and problems - so that you don't need to turn to food as a way of coping.
  • Learn assertiveness and communication skills - so that you don't need to have food "speak" for you. Learn to improve your relationships with others, and in turn, nuture yourself.

You'll also learn some tips and tricks to help find peace around food, your weight, and exercise, and prevent slipping back into old habits by preparing for tough situations and practicing the skills you've learned.

"Great work!"

"I just wanted to congratulate you on the work you do and the path you have chosen. Your area of expertise is a much needed and under-explored area of behaviour around food. Becoming familiar with what our individual triggers are is the first step towards healthy eating patterns and very rarely does this happen without the help and support of a professional who focuses on exactly that. I'll be sure to spread the word!"

Why should you sign up for THIS program?

There are lots of other diet and weight loss programs out there. But all of them focus on the wrong thing - what to eat and when, and not why you're eating. They don't address the complex psychology of eating, which is at the foundation of all our behaviour around food. Setting unrealistic goals in a competitive environment usually doesn't work; it creates feelings of deprivation, low self-esteem and failure. Instead, this program offers gentle support and encouragement while educating you how to make better choices and find better ways to cope with life without food.

Traditional one-on-one therapy can be expensive, and isn't for everyone. That's why I designed this program - to give people who don't have the time or money to invest in a long-term process a way to affordably get the expert help they need. (Don't get me wrong, I still believe therapy is the best way to achieve total and powerful personal transformation!) In addition, having this kind of weekly structure might be just what you need to consistently work through your struggle with food.

One of the best things about participating in a structured group program like this is the valuable content you get. I'll be teaching you the skills that can help you overcome your struggle with food once and for all. Plus, having the support of other people who know what you're going through can be a wonderfully powerful experience. And because the program lasts15 weeks, you get the time and practice to change your habits in a lasting way.

Finally, because I am a registered psychotherapist with the A.N.N. (Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists), the fees for this program are eligible for insurance coverage, meaning you might not even have to pay for most of it! Please check with your insurance company to find out what you're coverage is. I can provide receipts for you to submit directly to your insurance company.

    Who Is This Program For?

Anyone who wants to find peace with food! You will do especially well in this program if you:

    • Feel ready to face your struggle with food
    • Are curious about what is at the root of your relationship with food
    • Need a structured program to help you work through this issue bit by bit
    • Are willing to put yourself first and commit to plan of change
    • Need the support and encouragement of a trusted professional

Who this program is NOT for:

    • Anyone who is not yet ready to take action
    • Anyone who is not willing to face the difficult feelings and patterns that might be uncovered by this program
    • Anyone who feels deeply uncomfortable about being in a group situation

If this sounds like you, please know that the program is designed to be gentle and supportive, while also inspiring and motivating you to move forward in your life. In addition, because the group is highly structured, it's less anxiety-provoking than other, more open-ended groups that require lots of discussion.

This program is also not designed for anyone who is currently experiencing a psychological crisis (severe depression, anxiety or major life transition). If this describes you, you will not only not be able to put forward your best effort in this program, but you likely require additional treatment. If you think you might be suffering from acute psychological or emotional distress, please contact me right away so that we can decide on an appropriate course of action for you. I encourage you to sign up for a free consultation by clicking the button below.

    "To the point!"

"You were good and to the point. I also found that you had good examples to explain your points and helped me understand my own issues better. You have to get to the root of the emotional eating vs. trying to control it."

    "Emotional Eating 101" talk attendee

    "Made me think!"

"Your talk was very concise and makes one think that we should be conscious of, and find out why we eat, not just how much or when. There are steps to take to help one's self to control and stop overeating."
