What People Say
Emotional Eating Talk: Some Comments
Here are some of the comments I received on the talk I gave at WICHA‘s November 2008 meeting. The talk centered on emotional eating: what it is and what to do about it.
“[The talk was] enjoyable [and I’ll remember] your alert open personality...I know you have a talent.”
“You were good and to the point. I also found that you had good examples to explain your points and helped me understand my own issues better. You [have to get] to the root of the emotional eating vs. trying to control it.”
“The ‘question format’ worked very well. It displayed your knowledge well and made us realize we know what we do wrong! We just need someone to bring it to the surface. [I’ll remember] how well-organized and eloquent you were and that we need to be in touch with our food/emotions.”
“[Your talk] was very concise and makes one think that we should be conscious of, and find out why we eat, not just how much or when. There are steps to take to help one’s self to control and stop overeating.”
“Great interactive content.”
“You are very well-informed and sensitive to the problems of binge eaters, overeaters, and emotional eaters.”
Showed genuine concern, sympathy, understanding and encouragement
“I originally came to see Julia for help with a relationship I was having with a married man. Within 6 months, I started becoming more confident to leave that bad relationship behind. Throughout our work together, Julia showed genuine concern, sympathy, understanding and encouragement. I would recommend her services to anyone with relationship or eating problems.”
Great work!
“I just wanted to congratulate you on the work you do and the path you have chosen. Your area of expertise is a much needed and under-explored area of behaviour around food. Becoming familiar with what our individual triggers are is the first step towards healthy eating patterns and very rarely does this happen without the help and support of a professional who focuses on exactly that. I’ll be sure to spread the word!”
A fantastic decision!
“When I first came to see Julia, I was sick of struggling with my weight. I tried so many diets, but could never stick to them. With her help, I realized that a lot of my eating habits were a way of dealing with the stress in my life. With her support, I made some big changes in my life, improved how I relate to others, and have found other ways of coping with stress. Now I don’t need to eat to feel better, and have more strength to make healthy choices in my life!”
